Blog: Step by step to a natural make-up base

Make-up advice for a natural base make-up

Do you prefer a natural look or a pop of color on your eyes and lips? Whatever makeup look you choose, start your makeup routine with a beautiful base. In this blog post, we'll explain step-by-step how to easily and quickly apply your daily base makeup.

Day cream for every skin type

Beautiful makeup starts with well-cleansed and hydrated skin. Before applying your makeup, cleanse your skin thoroughly and apply a day cream to hydrate it. Do this even if you have oily or combination skin. Your skin can still be dehydrated. And in response to the lack of moisture, your skin will produce extra oil. A hydrating day cream will solve this problem.

Step 1: How to apply foundation

A natural foundation instantly brightens your face and enhances the rest of your makeup. A flawless complexion is essential, especially if you're going for a bold lipstick color. Choose a shade that's closest to your natural skin tone. Not sure? Test the shade on the edge of your jawline or contact us so we can help you with color advice.

Use the Natural Perfection 2-in-1 Hydrating Foundation & Concealer for a super natural, fresh complexion. Warm the foundation between your fingers and then apply it all over your face. Or use a foundation brush, like our Foundation Brush . This makes it incredibly easy to blend your foundation flawlessly. Blend the foundation towards your neck for a smooth gradient. Super easy!

Step 2: Where do you apply concealer?

Stick concealers often contain a lot of powder and can look dry and cakey on the skin, especially if you use them under your eyes. Therefore, it's best to use a liquid concealer . If you want to camouflage bags under your eyes, a liquid version is a must! Choose a slightly lighter shade than your skin tone; this will make you appear more awake and refreshed. Use a small amount; a good natural concealer will also camouflage well if you only apply a small amount.

Start under your eyes and in the corners of your eyes, where you see dark circles or shadows. Blend the concealer in by dabbing it in with your finger or the Blending Brush . Dab the remaining concealer onto your eyelids for an instant fresh look. Next, look at your face: do you see any red spots, blemishes, or pigmentation? Dab some concealer there and blend it in by dabbing it in with your finger. Also apply a little concealer to any shadowy areas, such as your nasolabial folds, the corners of your mouth, and between your eyebrows.

Step 3: Setting powder to prevent shine

Now it's time to powder your skin. A setting powder sets your foundation and concealer and mattifies your skin. This way, your makeup stays put all day and prevents shine. Distribute theBlèzi Setting Powder or Silky Powder evenly over your face with the special powder brush . Apply it in circular motions, working outwards from the center of your face. Be sure to cover the entire T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin). Finally, brush over your eyelids—the face powder will create a beautiful base for your eyeshadow.

Step 4: How to apply bronzer

A bronzer is also an essential step in your makeup base. It gives your skin a sun-kissed glow and radiance. For a natural look, choose a matte bronzer like Blèzi Bronzer 10 Natural Matte . Apply our bronzing powder with the Contouring Brush . Pick up a small amount of product with the brush. Don't overdo it, as it's better to apply a few layers and build up the product than to use a lot at once. If you end up with too much on your brush, simply tap the powder off.

Apply the bronzer in a figure 3 shape on both sides of your face. Start on your forehead at your hairline, then curve down to your cheekbones, and then curve down to your jawline. For a sun-kissed effect, you can also apply a small amount of bronzer to your chin and nose. Because the bronzer is matte, you can also use it for contouring. Apply a little to the sides of your nose to make it appear narrower, or to your temples and jawline to make your face appear less round.

Step 5: Blush for a natural look

Applying blush adds shape, color, and dimension to your face. As a neutral base, choose a pink or peach blush. Cool skin tones opt for a soft pink blush like Velvet Blush 10 Natural Rose . If you have a warm skin tone, a peachy shade will suit you, likeVelvet Blush 20 Natural Peach . These shades look very fresh and natural on your skin.

Apply the blush with a blush brush to the apples of your cheeks. Smile at yourself in the mirror to see exactly where they are. Load your brush with a small amount of product. The same goes for blush: it's better to build up the color than to apply a lot at once. Work the blush up towards your temples if you have a round face, and towards your ears if you have a longer face. Don't use eyeshadow? Then apply some blush to your eyelids as well. Because the color of your eyes matches the shade of your cheeks, you'll bring your whole look together and add more symmetry to your face.
