Radiant party makeup, especially for 45+

When you think of party makeup, do you immediately think of glitter? It looks great on young skin, but at your age, it can be less flattering. You need a different Christmas makeup look to look your best. And don't worry, it doesn't have to be difficult. With these handy tips, you can transform your everyday look into a radiant makeup look for Christmas and New Year's Eve!

Make-up for a party: a matter of choice

Christmas or New Year's Eve makeup naturally calls for something extra. But that doesn't mean you have to go all out. Choose either bold eye makeup or a striking lip. Especially if you have naturally fair skin and hair, your makeup will be too heavy and overpowering if you opt for both. Do you have tanned to dark skin? Then you can emphasize or make your eyes and lips pop with a touch of color.

Party makeup with a lifting effect

Gravity causes your eyelids to droop a little as you age.

And yes, wrinkles will appear at some point. You certainly don't need to hide them, because those lines give character to your beautiful face.

But of course you don't want to accentuate them with glitter and lots of shine.

You now need different products than you were used to using in your younger years.

This is how you do it

Step 1: As a base, apply Eyeshadow 40 Royal Silver or 60 Brilliant Copper to your mobile eyelid with the Eyeshadow Brush .

Step 2: Apply Automatic Eye Pencil 10 Shiny Black to your waterline and between your lashes. Draw a line along your upper lashes, extending it slightly upward at the end. Blend the pencil line with our Pencil Brush .

Step 3: Apply a subtle line between your lower lashes with Automatic Eye Pencil 40 Vibrant Grey .

Step 4: Apply Eyeshadow 95 Toffee Brown to the outer corner of your eye, extending halfway up to the crease, using the Eyeshadow Brush . Blend the eyeshadow in with our Blending Brush .

Step 5: Using your finger, dab a touch of Eyeshadow 15 Magic Gold onto your eyelids.

Step 6: Apply Eyeshadow 15 Magic Gold to the inner corners of your eyes with the Blending Brush.

Step 7: And a little Eyeshadow 15 Magic Gold under your eyebrow. This is easily applied with the Pencil Brush .

Step 8: Complete the look with plenty of coats of Perfect Mascara ! Apply a few more coats of mascara to your upper lashes for an extra lift.

This is what shimmer does for your party makeup

So, glitter isn't a good idea, but shimmer is! A touch of our Eyeshadow 15 Magic Gold here and there instantly transforms your makeup into a party look. A little shimmer in the corner of your eye creates a refreshing effect, while a touch on the curve of your eye over your eyeshadow adds sparkle. And for added shine, dab a small amount over your lipstick. This creates a subtle glow without adding too much glitter.

Gloss on your lips: a must for New Year's Eve makeup

If you've applied heavy makeup to your eyes, give your lips a subtler color. Lip Fix 12 Vintage Rose is always a winner. Or simply use our Hybrid Lip Gloss , a natural lip gloss with a beautiful shine and color-correcting pigments.

If you want to go all out for the holidays and make your lips the center of attention, choose a striking color like Lip Fix 38 Rebellious Red . This red looks gorgeous on every woman. 95 Gracious Red or 27 Spicy Copper are particularly powerful and festive . Perfect for New Year's Eve makeup!

45+ Make-up tips

  • A cleansed and hydrated base is always a good start to any makeup look, especially if you want to look radiant all day and ensure your makeup stays put.
  • Less is more! Be careful not to apply layer upon layer. This will make wrinkles more visible.
  • Even out your skin tone with a hydrating concealer like our Ageless Concealer . It's wrinkle-resistant and doesn't look cakey.
  • Black liquid eyeliner with an exciting wing is nice in your 20s, but it makes your eyes look heavy, small, and severe if you're over 45. So, better not to do it!
  • What to do: apply a subtle shimmer to the center of your eyes and lips.
  • Darken your eyebrows 1 to 2 shades and brush your hairs upward. See how it opens up your eyes.
